“Fostering a school climate that
supports the development of the whole child as a responsible citizen by
providing opportunities to maximize student achievement and personal success."
Motivation for Academic and Personal Success
2016-17 school year marks an exciting start to Somerville High School's M.A.P.S. program. M.A.P.S., an acronym for Motivation for Academic and Personal Success is a
program designed to meet the individual diverse needs of our
students. After considerable review of student
progress data, we determined that a differentiated and intensive approach to
instruction would assist in meeting the student as an individual, with the goal
of attaining a high school diploma and stepping into their post-secondary world
with the skills and abilities needed for success. We believe that the school
and home must work as a unified advocate for each child to ensure
success. It is everyone’s responsibility to empower children with the
skills that will enable them to be 21st century ready upon
completion of high school. Their ability
to think creatively and critically, use decision-making skills, and act responsibly
will be set the path for long term success.
At the M.A.P.S. program we will strive each day to impart these skills and continue to prepare our students for this path.
Best of luck during the 2016-17 school year!
