The Office of 21st Century Education is looking to employ current Somerville High School students
in grades 9-12 to assist with technology projects this Summer.
Staff will teach students how to complete specific tasks however candidates must possess the following skills.
- Manage time efficiently
- Follow multi-step directions
- Work cooperatively with peers
- Maintain confidentiality
- Demonstrate interest in technology
- Understand how to use Google Apps
- Research to find solutions to unfamiliar problems and questions
- Attend all training sessions
By the 2016-2017 school year:
All students in Somerville Schools will have access to an educationally appropriate computing device for their educational benefit at all times during the school day, not limited by quantity of equipment.
All students in Somerville Middle School and Somerville High School will have access to an individually assigned, educationally appropriate, computing device for their use in school, during school hours.
All students in grades kindergarten to five will have access to MacBook computers for their use in school, during school hours.
All students in grades kindergarten to five will have access to iPads for their use in school, during school hours.
All faculty members will have the use of an educationally appropriate mobile computing device to support their practice.
All faculty and staff will have access to high quality technical support throughout the school day.
As much as is feasible, all district services will be hosted off-site in the cloud.

Here is how 6th Grade Mathematics teacher Wendy Hunt used the Chromebook as an authentic part of her classroom practice; "My 7th period class calculated approximately how many pieces of paper Mrs. Hunt's math classes will save this year by doing our math minutes on our Chrome Books instead of on paper. This picture shows how much we will save."
